According to WAUKEGAN, Ill. Police report – A 7-year-old child who was wounded and was taken to an emergency facility in the Waukegan area was shot during a gunfight between two automobiles, according to police.
For his part in the shooting, a 25-year-old Waukegan man is charged with three counts of using a weapon unlawfully and one count of discharging a gun carelessly.
When he came across the older model light-colored vehicle, Mark Ramirez was allegedly driving a white Chevrolet SUV eastbound on Washington Street from Butrick Street. According to the police, people in both automobiles started shooting at one another.
Police gave no reason for the gunfire.
Inside the vehicle with Ramirez was a 24-year-old female passenger, two other juveniles and the 7-year-old girl who was shot.
