Christian Dejasse, National Sports President of the Belgian Motorcycle Federation (FMB), confirmed the information released by the RTBF in a statement to the Belgian body. He is 66 years old and was hospitalized about three weeks ago.
André Malherbe was born in Huy, the son of a motorcycle dealer. Malherbe received his racing license in 1973 and started racing at a very young age. He won the 1973 FIM 125cc European Motocross Championship riding a Zündapp, and won it again in 1974.
Andre Malherbe is the coolest driver in the GP paddock. Despite his clumsy “European” style of riding, he was also agile, poised and strong-willed, making him possibly Thorpe’s deadliest foe. Of course, he is handsome, has a beautiful wife, and looks like a movie star, making all his opponents admire him.
