Asheville Shooting Investigations – Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to the scene of a shooting at the DSS office on Coxe Ave, Asheville, NC Wednesday. According to reports, at least four dozen police officers, the fire department, and the EMS are responding to a report of an active shooter at the Buncombe County Social Work Services.

The Buncombe County Social Work Services located in downtown Asheville along Coxe Avenue have been placed on a hard lockdown. A large number of police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances in Asheville are at Patton/Coxe right now, near the Health and Human Services building. County employees said they were told to evacuate.

Residents were asked to leave the area as law enforcement agencies investigated the incident. Avoid downtown if possible. FINAL UPDATE: According to the Asheville Fire Department, after investigations, officials determined that there is no active shooter or evidence of a shooting at the location.
