Brenda Hinebaugh Car Accident, Obituary: Ottumwa Couple died in car accident

Two people were killed and two others were injured in a fiery multi-vehicle collision about five miles south of Ottumwa on Friday night. The Iowa State Patrol said late Saturday night that the crash occurred around 8 p.m. Friday on northbound Highway 63 north of 25th Street.

The Ottumwa, Iowa community is in shock over the sudden deaths of Brenda Hinebaugh and Steve Hinebaugh, who were involved in a crash on U.S. Highway 63. Died in a car accident. A fiery, four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Friday night left an Ottumwa couple dead. It happened just before 8 p.m. about four miles south of Ottumwa.

The Iowa State Patrol identifies the victims as Steven Hinebaugh, 68, and his wife, Brenda Hinebaugh, 65, both of Ottumwa.

State police said an SUV driven by 49-year-old Bloomfield resident Lora Sprouse was stopped at a makeshift traffic light on northbound Highway 63, a single lane of bridge construction closed part.

Behind her was a pickup truck driven by Dennis Hagedorn, 36, of Kirksville, Missouri.

A second SUV, driven by Steven Hinebaugh, stopped or slowed to a stop behind the pickup.

Reid Hilpipre, 22, of Pocahontas, Iowa, was driving a tractor-trailer when it failed to stop and crashed into Heinebowes’ SUV, investigators said. The rear part, triggering a chain reaction.

The couple’s SUV, semi-trailer and Hagedorn’s pickup all ended up in the ditch and were completely engulfed in flames.

The semitrailer driver and Sprouse were injured. Both were taken by ambulance to the Ottumwa District Health Centre.

Brenda Hinebaugh was a caring woman from Ottumwa, Iowa, whose Facebook profile lists her as working at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She started working at Ottumwa District Health Center on 12 September 2019.

And her educational background, Brenda attended Ottumwa High School and after graduation, she attended Ottumwa Highlands College where she graduated in 1978.

The couple welcomed four children, named Jack, Joel, Jesse and Rachel. All of them are on good terms and the family is currently mourning the loss of their parents, who were reportedly killed in a car accident.
