Bruce Simon Death – Bryce Simon of Gilberts, Illinois passed away in a motor vehicle accident that left another injured in Pingree Grove. The collision that occurred at the intersection of Route 72 and Reinking Road on Thursday evening. Simon was 16 years old. Bruce Simon and the other victim were said to have been airlifted to regional hospitals following the collision.
Bryce Simon was pronounced at Park Ridge’s Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District issued the following statement: At approximately 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, emergency personnel were dispatched to Route 72 east of Reinking Road in response to a two-vehicle collision. According to officials, two individuals were confined in one vehicle, and one more was ejected from the second.
According to the release, firefighters “had to roll up the dashboard” in order to remove the casualties from the initial vehicle after removing the roof, doors, and roof. One passenger was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, and the occupants of both vehicles were airlifted to safety, according to a social media post from the Pingree Grove Police Department.
Initial investigation results from the police post indicate that a pickup truck was traveling east at a high rate of speed on Route 72 when the driver lost control, swerved into the westbound lanes, and collided head-on with a sedan.
Anyone with information regarding the collision is requested to contact the Pingree Grove Police Department at 847-464-4600 and request to speak with an investigator. The investigation is being assisted by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Pingree Grove police.
The incident was assisted by LifeNet and React medical helicopters, the Kane County Office of Emergency Management, and first responders from Huntley, Burlington, Hampshire, and Rutland Dundee.
