Brycen Wermter Boating Accident, Obituary: GHS DUKES Football Player Died

A 16-year-old Gloucester High School student and Football Player, Brycen Wermter died after a boating accident on 30 July (Sunday) on the York River.

Virginia Marine Police say the crash around 2:30 p.m. off the shores of Machicomoco State Park, and involved a jet ski and a pontoon boat.

Who was Brycen Wermter?

Brycen, a 16 year old junior at Gloucester High School, lost his life in a tragic accident on 7/30/23. Brycen was the light of everyone’s life who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was kind, funny, and sweet.

Brycen was a tight end for Gloucester Dukes football team for his high school and was anxiously awaiting this coming school year to play.

Brycen loved all of his parents fiercely and was thrilled to have 2 amazing bonus parents who loved him like their own. He will be forever missed by his entire family but especially by his best friend and brother, Kyler.

Brycen Wermter Boating Accident

A 16-year-old Gloucester High School student and Football Player, Brycen Wermter died after a boating accident on 30 July (Sunday) on the York River.

The crash is still under investigation, but authorities say no charges are pending and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

“The Virginia Marine Police extends its deepest sympathy to the family of the victim and all involved,” it said in a news release. “More information will be released once the investigation has completed.”
