Casey Byrd Identified as the Driver in Sunday Car Accident Involving a Kentucky Police Officer Logan Medlock

The suspect detained on Sunday as a result of a deadly car accident involving a Kentucky police officer who was on duty has been identified as Casey P. Byrd, 36, of Oneida, Tennessee.

The on-duty officer killed in a two-vehicle collision early on Sunday morning in Laurel County, Kentucky, has been identified as London PD Officer Logan K. Medlock, 26, of Keavy, Kentucky.

According to accounts, about 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Byrd was driving a Ram pickup truck on South Main Street near Barbourville Street in London when it collided with a Dodge Charger police cruiser driven by Officer Medlock.

At the senne, Officer Medlock was identified as having died from blunt force trauma.

In the crash, Byrd was unharmed.

Mr. Byrd was detained and accused of.

Mr. Byrd was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center after being charged with murder and police officer operating motor vehicle while intoxicated, the first aggravating circumstance.

The inquiry is still being conducted by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team. The London Police Department, Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Laurel County EMS, London City Fire Department, London ECO Tech, Laurel County Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner’s office all provided assistance to the victims at the scene.
