William Martin Gulager, better known as Clu Gulager, is an American television and film actor and director born on November 16, 1928, in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Speaking of Gulag’s education, he is a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He then received a one-year scholarship to study abroad. There he worked under Jean Louis Barrault, an internationally renowned actor, director, and pantomime artist.

Gulager died of natural causes on August 5, 2022, at his son John’s Los Angeles home.

On June 3, 1959, he made a cameo appearance as unscrupulous photographer Elliott Garrison on NBC’s wagon train “The Andrew Hale Story.”

From 1960 to 1962, Gulag played Billy the Kid on Tall, opposite Barry Sullivan as Sheriff Pat Garrett.
In 1971, Gulag appeared in Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show.
