Corey Michael Carrabino Obituary, Death Cause: The body of a man who drowned allegedly while attempting to salvage a remote-controlled boat from Lake Erie at Sterling State Park has been found by divers.
Corey Michael Carrabino, 49, of Monroe was the victim, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. His remains were discovered in the lagoon south of the park’s boat launch.
Corey Michael Carrabino Cause of Death
A little before noon, Carrabino was discovered in eight feet of water, 50 yards from land. It was 57 degrees in the water. The body was retrieved by the Marine Division and Dive Team of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, Carrabino is thought to have dove into the lake after his remote control boat broke down. The search was suspended around 3:30 in the morning and picked up again around dawn.

The Monroe City Police, Frenchtown Township Fire Department, and Department of Natural Resources all contributed to the recovery effort. The victim’s family as well as others working on the recovery attempt received assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain.
