Daniel Didato Death – Daniel P. DiDato, an officer with the East Fishkill Police Department in New York passed away tragically on Monday evening, December 18th, 2023. He was 22 years old at the time of his death. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the DiDato family and our brothers and sisters at the East Fishkill Police Department. According to State Police, an East Fishkill police officer lost his life on Monday night after he collided with a tree on the Taconic State Parkway. Daniel P. DiDato, a 22-year veteran of law enforcement, was confirmed as the deceased officer by the office of Governor Kathy Hochul. In a statement, Hochul said that she is ordering all state facilities to have their flags lowered to half-staff on Wednesday in his respect.

DiDato was traveling to Westchester Medical Center at around six o’clock on Monday when the collision occurred. Troopers reported that DiDato was investigating a car-pedestrian collision that had occurred earlier near the East Fishkill police station and had resulted in serious injuries. DiDato’s patrol car on the Taconic veered off the road around mile marker 36.2 and collided with a tree.

When a passing driver noticed the collision, they utilized DiDato’s car’s emergency radio to dial for assistance. The only person inside was DiDato, who was brought to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital before being declared deceased. The inquiry is still being conducted. East Fishkill Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessandro stated in a Facebook posting that information regarding memorial services and other plans will be shared as soon as it becomes available.

Acting Chief Derrick Cuccia stated on the town’s Facebook page that DiDato had worked for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection before to joining the East Fishkill force in 2005. Cuccia made this statement. A wonderful buddy and police officer, he exemplified all of the qualities that make a good friend. He was honest, intelligent, brave, tough, and witty all at the same time.
