David Watson was a college student who had a bright future ahead of him. He was studying at Travis Technical College and had many interests and hobbies. He loved music, sports, and animals. He was also a kind and caring person who had a positive impact on everyone he met. Unfortunately, his life was cut short in a horrific car accident that occurred on July 20, 2023, in Bartow, Florida.
David Watson’s Cause of Death
It is reported that David Watson was driving a 2004 white GMC Canyon in a southern direction on U.S. 17, using the outer lane. During an attempt to overtake another vehicle, Watson veered onto the grassy median. This resulted in a loss of control, leading to a collision with a black Dodge 3500 driven by James Shaw from Orlando, as confirmed by The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).
The impact of the collision caused Watson to be thrown out of his vehicle. After the incident, Watson was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have mentioned that Watson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

As for James Shaw, he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and he was subsequently released after being treated for minor injuries. Shaw’s passenger remained unharmed.
