Who was DJ Ambrose Harcourt?
Radio personality Ambrose Harcourt, who lived in Worthing, West Sussex, was known to his listeners as “Mr. Lurve”. He hosted radio shows for over five decades on the airwaves across Sussex and the south of England.
To complete his education as the eldest son of a large family, Ambrose (Obiajulu) traveled from Nigeria to England alone in 1964. He went first to Norwich and then continued to Kings Lynn.
His passion for music first emerged in college, where he and several of his close friends started a company that organizes events and concerts. This created the opportunity and Ambrose started his DJ career in East London pubs and clubs before moving on to St George’s Hospital Radio in Tooting.
