Around 4:30 p.m., an email was issued to parents, staff, and community members. On Friday, October 14, Dr. Ebert wrote: “I am writing you now with deep grief. The school system was informed this morning of the untimely death of Emily Wegner, a well-liked seventh-grade math teacher who had worked for the district since 2014.
We are all devastated by this news as a school community. I can attest firsthand to Emily’s strong connections with our students, her excellence as a teacher, and the many wonderful friendships she forged with her coworkers. Our ideas are with her loved ones at this time.
