In a piece of shocking news, former NFL running back Franco Harris died on December 20th, 2022. He played for Pittsburgh Steelers from 1972-1983 and then he signed with Seattle Seahawks in 1984. He is a 4-time Superbowl champion and was awarded the NFL Man of the Year in 1976. He retired after playing just one season with the Seahawks in 1984.

According to Sportskeeda, WTAE, a Pittsburgh-based news station, first reported the reason why Franco Harris died. He died of natural causes. But no formal reason has been given for why he died. The Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, told the press about Harris’s historic catch on Tuesday.

What Are Some Of Franco Harris’ Achievements

He was best known for his role in the “Immaculate Reception”, one of the most famous plays in NFL history, where he caught a deflected pass and ran for a touchdown in the final seconds of a playoff game against the Oakland Raiders in 1972. He was a four-time Super Bowl champion, a nine-time Pro Bowler, and a two-time All-Pro. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. He is survived by his wife Dana Dokmanovich and his son Franco “Dok” Harris.
