WBTV meteorologist Jason Myers was one of two people killed in the crash on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, WBTV reported.

WBTV confirmed the deaths of pilot Chip Tayag and meteorologist Jason Myers. The helicopter crash occurred along Interstate 77 in the city’s Yorkmont suburb about 6 miles southwest of downtown Charlotte.

Myers joined ABC 36 in April 2013 and served as the station’s chief meteorologist for more than six years.

He was employed by WBTV as a meteorologist at the time of the accident.

Jason Myers was born in Salisbury, North Carolina, and grew up watching WBTV. He has a BS in Meteorology with a Communications Concentration from North Carolina State University.

Jason started his broadcast weather career as a weather observer at Raleigh Durham International Airport. Jason is married to his childhood friend Jillian and is a mother to the couple’s four children.

Miles began her career in broadcast meteorology at KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas. She eventually moved to WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to working at WBTV, Myers served as Chief Meteorologist for WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky from 2013 to 2019.
