Who was Kallistos Ware?
Kallistos Ware September 11, 1934 is an English bishop and Orthodox theologian.
Since 1982 he has been the titular bishop of Phrygia Diokleia, and later became titular Metropolitan in 2007 under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. He is one of the most famous Orthodox leaders and theologians of our time. From 1966 to 2001 he was a Lecturer in Spalding Orthodox Studies at Oxford University.

Kallistos Ware Professional Life
In 1966, Ware became Spalding Lecturer in Orthodox Studies at Oxford University, a position he held for 35 years until his retirement. In 1970 he was appointed a Fellow of Pembroke College, University of Oxford.

In 2017, Ware was awarded the Ecumenism Lambeth Cross by the Archbishop of Canterbury for his “outstanding contribution to the Anglican-Orthodox theological dialogue”
