LaToya Brown Death, Woman Shot Dead in Bellefontaine Neighbors Shooting

The heartbreaking killing of LaToya Brown’s Bellefontaine neighbor in North St. Louis County has raised concerns about gun violence in the area.

St. Louis County police opened a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead Tuesday after a Bellefontaine neighbor was shot.

The shooting happened around 10:51 p.m. The woman died in the 10200 block of Ashbrook Drive and died in hospital, police said.

Neighbors in Bellefontaine are demanding that the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department take responsibility for the investigation. Initial investigations indicated the shooting was the result of an altercation between people who knew each other. Police later identified the victim as Latoya Brown, 36.

According to investigators, LaToya Brown with a gunshot wound was discovered inside a house. Right away, she was taken to the hospital but subsequently passed away from her wounds. Police think that the shooting occurred as a result of an altercation between the victim and the shooter.
