Former Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Adib Mohamad Adam died on 21 September 2022 of old age at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL). He is 81 years old.

At 4.25 pm, the Imam of the mosque, Mohamad Khairi Hussein, led more than 100 people in funeral prayers. After prayers in the Maghrib, he was buried in the Mausoleum of Heroes in Melaka.

Adib has worked as an assistant to the Kuala Selangor district officer. He later resigned to take up the post of executive secretary at Umno’s Putra World Trade Centre Headquarters (PWTC). In 1971, he was appointed Information Commissioner at the Malaysian Embassy in the Netherlands.
After the 1978 general election, Adib was selected by then Prime Minister Tun Hussein to succeed Datuk Setia Haji Abdul Ghani Ali as the next chief minister of Malacca after winning the seat of the Ayer Panas state assembly. In the ensuing 1982 general election, Adib ran for the Malacca-based Alor Gajah parliamentary seat and won, becoming a member of parliament.
