Clarence Sexton Death – Temple Baptist Church Leader and Founder of The Crown College Clarence Sexton of Powell, Tenesssessee has sadly passed away. He died on Tuesday 12th December 2023 surrounded by his beloved family. He was announced dead on his Facebook page saying “Our beloved Pastor’s faith has now become sight. He is in heaven in the arms of his Saviour. Our church family has been wonderful over the last several months by showing your concern for us, praying for us, encouraging us, and expressing your love to us”. No cause of death was mentioned.

At Baptist Hospital in Selma, Alabama, Clarence was born on the morning of Sunday, October 10, 1948, the first of four siblings: Tommy, Katherine, Sheila, and Clarence. After spending nineteen moves before Clarence was in third grade, his family finally settled down in Maryville, Tennessee, when he was eight years old, after a restless upbringing. It was a defining moment for Clarence when he transferred from Maryville to Everett High School during his freshman year. Robert Davis, the principle of Everett High School, unexpectedly became a part of Clarence’s life as a result of this shift.

Clarence was a four-year starting halfback and team captain at Everett High School, where he excelled in his athletic career. Clarence earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching while concurrently pastoring in Greenback and pursuing higher education at the University of Tennessee. He was previously a graduate of Hiawassee College with an Associate of Arts degree.

A Master of Religious Education and a Doctor of Ministry were the next degrees that Clarence earned. A Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Humanities were among the degrees he earned over his academic career. After leaving Greenback in September 1972, Clarence took up pastor duties at Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tennessee. The Crown College was founded thirteen years after the first heavenly inspiration to prepare people to serve Jesus Christ in local churches. The institution, which opened its doors to 69 students from 14 states in its first year of operation in August 1991, saw tremendous development.

Over forty states and a number of international nations were represented among the more than nine hundred students enrolled during the 2006–2007 school year. From the very beginning, the prosperity and growth of this institution have been clearly marked by the hand of God.
