Peter Simensky Death – Peter Simensky, an Artist, Chair of Grad Fine Arts, an Associate Professor at the California College of the Arts, San Francisco, has passed away. Peter Simensky was a transdisciplinary artist whose work was displayed in solo shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Museum 52, Museum 500meter in Sapporo, and Project Row Houses in Houston. His work was also featured in a number of other exhibitions.

The performances and installations of Simensky have been exhibited at a variety of institutions, including the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the Swiss Institute, the Wattis Institute, the ICA San Francisco, Cabinet, the 18th Street Art Center, and the de Young Museum. This individual has been the recipient of numerous grants, residencies, and awards, some of which include the following: the NYFA Fellows Grant, the Oregon Arts Commission / Ford Family Opportunity Grant, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants, MacDowell Colony, La Tallera Proyecto Siqueiros, and Skowhegan, to mention a few institutions. Some of the places that have hosted selected group shows are the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, the Sculpture Center, the Palais de Tokyo, Mass Moca, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, and Socrates Sculpture Park.

At California College of the Arts, Simensky serves as the chairperson of the Graduate Fine Arts MFA program. His efforts are evidence of the volatility of art objects, which are, on the one hand, cash with which to sell and invest, and, on the other hand, art, which is the mysterious embodiment of reflection, imagination, and promise.
