Santa Paula Fire: Evacuations on north of La Loma, from Price to LA Ave in Ventura County

Ventura County Fire Investigations – Ventura County Fire and other units are on the scene of a brush fire on South Mountain Road that started during a Red Flag warning due to heavy winds. The fire was reported near the tower at 9:37 a.m., and many units are on the scene. “Initial reports indicate 3-4 acres burning downhill,” according to the VCFD.

The South Mountain is on fire on the south side. Air tankers and helicopters are on their way. Strong east winds are impacting the area.” Everything north of La Loma, from Price to LA Ave (Hwy 118), has been ordered to evacuate.The Sheriff’s Emergency Services is closely monitoring a Santa Ana Wind Event expected to hit Ventura County this weekend. The most recent forecast expects peak gusts of 40-60 mph on Saturday. In response, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Ventura County, which will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

SCE is monitoring several electrical circuits in Ventura County for potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs. Ventura County Fire is sending a strong response to a brush fire that has started on South Mountain, which might affect Santa Paula and north Somis. This will be known as the South Fire.
