Shaelyn Yang Death
Shaelyn Yang Obituary, Death Cause: Constable Shaelyn Yang was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police mental health and homeless outreach team. Yang had proudly served the RCMP since June of 2019.
On Tuesday afternoon, October 18, Constable Yang along with another city employee, approached a man who was camped out at a park in Burnaby, British Columbia, to notify him that he would have to leave the location.
During the encounter, there was a physical altercation and the man stabbed the officer. Constable Yang was able to draw her service weapon and shoot her attacker.
She was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her wounds about 30 minutes later.
The suspect was taken into custody and has since been charged with the officer’s murder.
