Mark Senftner’s death was linked to a brain tumor, and Sully Butte’s football and women’s basketball coach has died. Senftner has been the head coach of the Sully Buttes women’s basketball and soccer teams for several years and will be inducted into the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2022.
In girl’s basketball, he coached Sully Buttes to 11 state tournament appearances and four state championships in 2007, 2008, 2016, and 2017.
In football, he coached Sully Buttes to four state championship games in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

In a post on CaringBridge, his family wrote he was under care at Dougherty Hospice House and watched football with his wife, Lynn, and son, Scott, in his final days of “just comfort and sleep.”
