Two people dead in two different car crash occur in Garden State Parkway
According to New Jersey report – Two people died in separate crashes 2 miles apart on the Garden State Parkway early Monday morning, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said.
The initial collision took place on the northbound side of the parkway in Clifton at 5:43 a.m., close to mile marker 157.9. According to Marchan, a BMW SUV ran off the road, ran into some trees and the guardrail, then flipped over and got back on the road.
One of the three occupants was declared dead at the spot, and all three were ejected. The other two had significant wounds.
In Elmwood Park, just up the road from mile marker 159.7, a pedestrian was struck and killed at 5:56 a.m. by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene, according to Marchan. The pedestrian was then struck by another car, which stayed on the scene.
According to Marchan, the collisions are still being investigated. Both victims were unidentified.
The collisions significantly slowed down Monday morning traffic. The stop-and-go traffic was backed up all the way into Montclair, according to traffic maps on 511nj.org.
