Valeri Polyakov Education
He was educated at Tula No. 4 Secondary School and obtained his diploma in 1959. He attended the First Sechenov Medical School in Moscow and received his Ph.D. After that, he began to study astronautics medicine at the Institute of Medical and Biological Problems of the Ministry of Public Health in Moscow.
After the first space doctor, Boris Yegorov boarded Vostok 1 in 1964, Polyakov devoted himself to the study of space medicine.

Selected as an astronaut in 1972, Polyakov made his first space trip aboard the Soyuz TM-6 in 1988. After 240 days, he returned to Earth in a TM-7. In 1994-1995, Polyakov successfully completed his second space mission, from the launch of the Soyuz TM-18 to the landing of the TM-20, and stayed in space for 437 days, breaking the previous duration of human spaceflight longest record.
