Walter O. Trowbridge Career
A Korean War veteran, he served with the F4U Corsair Fighter Squadron VMF-251 in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Walter also served in the U.S. Air Force and spent 2 years at Komaki Air Force Base in Nagoya during the Korean War. After completing six years of military service, he was hired by Charles G. (Bud) Harrington on January 1, 1955, as chief deputy of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. He served for 32 years at the Sheriff’s office in the capacity of Chief Deputy and Under Sheriff and was elected Sheriff in 1984.
